Workshops and events
ASCCA always provides members of its affiliated clubs with discounts on our public seminars and workshops. Discounts vary from time to time.
See the Events page for more information about current events and registration costs.
ASCCA quarterly meetings for member clubs
As well as its AGM and annual conference, two meetings especially for representatives of member clubs are held in Sydney each year, usually in March/April and June/July.
Take the Teacher Home
The usual price for Easy Computing for Seniors Pty Ltd's Take the Teacher Home 6 CD (or 2 DVD) set is $74.00. but for members of ASCCA clubs, the cost is $49.95, including postage.
Each club has, or can obtain from Easy Computing Pty Ltd an order book. If a set is ordered through a club, the club keeps $4.95 commission. For further details about this product, see the Take the Teacher Home website.
A second series of training CDs/DVDs was published in October 2007 - Internet and Email for Beginners. Orders are now being taken. You can order by phoning 1300 793 013 or mobile 0421664257.
Easy Computing for Seniors Pty Ltd now has its own Weblog, where you can keep up to date with new initiatives or leave comments.
Computing in Easy Steps
Some of this series of computing books has been written especially for seniors, and the publishers, Woodsland have set up an ASCCA bookshop especially for ASCCA club members.
Members who order through this site obtain a 20% discount on all orders.
DeepFreeze
Member clubs can purchase DeepFreeze for $35 per license. Not only is this a considerable saving on the general price, but if clubs go directly to Faronics, the minimum order is 10 licenses. With ASCCA there is no minimum number of licenses required.
View or download the Faronics Sample License, the sub-licence with ASCCA on the DeepFreeze page.
Training manuals
ASCCA's Training Officer has prepared a number of training manuals which are available for all clubs. The training manuals are available on CD, many with accompanying software application downloads (freeware only). New clubs receive a CD with all manuals when they first join. Clubs may order Training manual CDs (which include the latest version of all manuals and downloads) from ASCCA's Training Officer at any time, for $5 plus postage.
A full list of training manuals available from ASCCA can be found at the Training Manuals page.
Hard copies of each manual can also be purchased, for $20 each plus postage.
Club Information Manual
ASCCA gives each club a copy of the Club Information Manual when they first join. The manual is updated from time to time. You can download the manual as a Word document. Here is the Word document.
Software Discounts
Donortec
ASCCA clubs are eligible for heavily discounted Microsoft software through Donortec, which took over the Microsoft contract from Barbara Bridges and Associates in late 2006.
Your club will need to register with Donortec, and there is an administration fee of 4% of the Recommended Retail Price of the product. CISCO products are also available.
Several of our clubs have advised that they had not been able to satisfy the Income Tax Exemption criteria for registration with Donortec; ASCCA has negotiated with both Donortec and Microsoft and we are happy to advise that ASCCA's ITE certificate is now lodged with them and covers all ASCCA Clubs. This offer is only available to financial member clubs of ASCCA. It will make an enormous difference financially to be able to purchase software through Donortec. You can order up to 50 copies of any six different software titles over two years - with one order each twelve months. It is acceptable that you can purchase copies for trainers to install on their home computers but you need to identify specific names not just order a bulk number 'to have in the cupboard'. It is appropriate that the trainer/s reimburse the club for the cost of the software.
