Seniors Week 2008 computing events

Many computer clubs for Seniors will sponsor Seniors Week events, sometimes with grants from the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC).

These include Open Days, where anyone is welcome.

Concord

Computer Pals for Seniors - Concord is having a Digital Photography seminar and announcing results of its competition. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Gosford

Gosford Seniors Computer Class will have an information table.

Hurstville

Hurstville City Council is hosting a variety of activities which includ Fun on the Internet and Open Days at the Hurstville Senior Centre.

Illawarra

Illawarra Computer Enthusiasts is holding an event entitled Opening the World to Seniors through Computers. This is an interactive session giving students the opportunity to explore the world of computing, in order to both stimulate their imaginations and increase their knowledge of the subject and demystify computers.

Kincumber

Seniors Computer Club Central Coast is holding an open day.

Manly

Computer Pals for Seniors Manly will be holding a special Seniors Week demonstration commencing 2pm Thursday 10th April in the Manly Library meeting room. Interested seniors are invited to come along and see just how easy it is to learn basic computer skills with our "one on one" friendly tuition from a friendly fellow senior. We will demonstrate the wonders of the internet & show you how to send emails with photos to family and friends. Would you like to know how to book your next holiday on line? Do you want to know how to shop safely on line? You can learn these skills and more - and soon be able to keep up with your grandchildren. There will be ample opportunity for questions at the end of this 1 hour presentation and afternoon tea will be provided. Seating is limited to approx 60 so do arrive early to get a good seat.

Registration not required.

Neutral Bay

Neutral Bay Computer will be holding an Open Day to showcase their activities and those of their community centre on Wednesday 9th April at 11.00 am. Free refreshments will be available.

The Centre has one on one computer lessons at all levels for one hour - six weeks for $40.00 plus $5.00 annual membership of Community Centre.

Group lessons on Digital Cameras and Editing Photos - generally the last Friday in month for $10.00 for two hours. The next lesson is May 2nd (as April 25th is Anzac Day. Additional classes included Family Tree Research - $10 for 2 hours.

Parramatta

Parramatta Computer Pals for Seniors will have a stand at the Parramatta Council's Seniors Golf Day on Thursday 10th April at the Woodville Public Golf Course, 118 Rawson Rd (near Woodville Road), Guildford, between 10 am and 12.30pm.

Turramurra

Computer Pals for Seniors Turramurra, in conjunction with Ku-Ring-Gai Council's activies for Seniors Week, will be holding an Open Day from 10.00am to 4.00pm. During this period visitors will be informed of the Club's activities and courses, with some hands-on demonstrations.
Date: Wednesday 9th April
Location: Club Rooms, near Turramurra Station
Bookings: Not required.

The Club will also have a stall at the Expo organised by Ku-Ring-Gai Council at St Ives Shopping Village on Thursday 3rd April, from 10.00am to 3.00pm. Application for membership forms will be handed out to interested persons.
