Australian Computer Conference for Seniors
will be held on Level 1, 280 Pitt Street,
Sydney on 5 & 6 September 2006, 9.00 am – 3.30 pm daily. This inexpensive conference is suitable
for experienced or inexperienced older computer users; professionals from organisations,
Government Departments and Agencies who understand how valuable it can be for seniors to explore
the satisfaction and benefits of computer technology. James Hegarty, Dept Ageing Disability and
Home Care will officially open the conference on 5 September. Keynote speakers for day one will be
Paul Wallbank from PC Rescue and ABC radio; and a representative from the Office of Fair Trading;
Steve Lawrence, CEO WorkVentures and a speaker from Microsoft will give us a glimpse of ‘Vista’ on
day two. Each day there will be a Panel discussion and three concurrent strands of sessions, General,
Training and Management to cater for the wide ranging technology interests of Seniors. The program
will include Shopping online, Risk Management Systems, results of the Telecommunications Survey,
Digital Scrapbooking, Evaluating training courses, Genealogy, Publicity for Clubs, Blogging and so on!

discounted prices for ASCCA club members and holders of a Seniors Card.
Queensland Computing for Seniors, 1 Day Forum
The inaugural
Queensland Computing for Seniors, 1 Day Forum
will be held at Ferny Grove High
School on 30 September 2006. The Steering Committee, co-ordinated by Brad Ainge from the Pine
Rivers Computer Club, is well advanced with its planning. It will be an
information packed day designed especially for seniors to further their
computer knowledge. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to
turn their computer from a techno beast into a friendly companion!
The Forum will be opened by Councillor Faith Hopkins, from Brisbane City
Council. How computers and technology can enrich the lives of Seniors is
the topic chosen by Nan Bosler, President of ASCCA; Fran Warner, winning
editor of the best ASCCA club newsletter for the last two years, will show
how easy it is to touch up those old photos like new. Ralph Masters will
show ways of sharing your interests with others around the world by
building your home on the web. Take a sneak peak at the new Vista
operating system with a speaker from Microsoft; Are there any skeletons
in your closet? Hear how to get started on your own family tree. Go to
