When an enthusiastic group of computer users met with the Warringah Council's Age Services officer in 1993, it was with the aim of providing an introduction to the use of the Internet and a pathway that senior citizens would find most helpful. After a steering committee had been formed and facilities and initial finance provided by the Council, recruiting began.

From the outset there was plenty of interest and no shortage of people willing to sign up. However they did so on their terms! It was getting to know the basics of computers and their use that attracted attention. Barely half-a-dozen of the first fifty members had any interest in electronic communications.

Over the past 10 years the Club has grown in numbers, in its interests and in its power base. No longer are we dependent upon the Council for finance; we now find ourselves in the happy position of having a healthy bank account. We can pay our way and ensure all those who take part in our activities enjoy themselves. The number we can accommodate at a single session has quadrupled and we have been able to assist in the formation of other clubs to reduce the amount of travelling for those in other parts of the peninsula.

Our membership now stands at around 250. One must remember that this is the currently active group - at least another 930 have joined, learnt, and now stand upon their own two feet and help to spread the movement to yet more areas.

And the Internet that was the original interest? Well, we have many of our members involved and we go out and assist them to get started in their own homes.

 Our trainers work voluntarily, as is all work done within the Club. It cost so little to belong with a once only joining fee of $25-00 and quarterly fee of $25-00. They are available 9:00am to 4: 00pm, Monday to Friday. The Club Room is located at the front of the Forestville Memorial Hall, 3 Starkey Street, Forestville. Wheelchair access is available.
