Computer Pals for Seniors Bankstown was formed in 1998 and originally met at Georges Hall. At that stage the club only had a few old donated computers and a few dedicated trainers.
Currently we have a dedicated room in Bankstown Senior Citizens Centre with 7 new computers (all connected to the Internet through a network), a laptop, printers, copying machine and scanner.
Our aim is to teach computer skills to Senior Citizens in the Bankstown area so that they can explore the advantages, satisfaction and fun of using information technology. We have one-on-one training and have many skilled trainers and some assistant trainers who have been trained by TAFE Outreach to help with this aim.
We offer training on Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, Genealogy, Photo Shop, Internet and email.
We have 70 plus financial members. Over the 10 periods available each week many of these members are being taught different skills at various levels. Currently we are looking at the possibility of opening another day each week.
All trainers and committee members are volunteers who give their time unstintingly.
